Action NC TORC empowers tenants living in private and subsidized housing to organize to ensure tenants’ rights and preserve quality, safe and affordable housing.

DreamKey Partners

DreamKey Partners works to expand the availability of affordable homes through significant real estate development, homeownership programs and community engagement. DreamKey Partners builds and rehabilitates multi- and single- family homes, delivers homeownership education and provides emergency assistance, all to revitalize neighborhoods.

DreamKey Partners administers House Charlotte down payment assistance on behalf of the City of Charlotte. The program offers deferred down payment assistance options for eligible homebuyers purchasing within the City of Charlotte limits.

NC Home Advantage Mortgage ™

For both first-time and move-up home buyers, the NC Home Advantage Mortgage™ provides qualified individuals with stable, fixed-rate mortgages and down payment assistance up to 3% of the loan amount.

United Way of Greater Charlotte

United Way of Greater Charlotte leads conversations, leverages community voices and brings the right groups together to address complex economic challenges and social disparities facing individuals, families and communities across the Charlotte region. 

USDA Home Loan

Also known as the Section 502 Direct Loan Program, this program assists low- and very-low-income applicants obtain decent, safe and sanitary housing in eligible rural areas by providing payment assistance to increase an applicant’s repayment ability. Payment assistance is a type of subsidy that reduces the mortgage payment for a short time. The amount of assistance is determined by the adjusted family income.

West Side Community Land Trust

West Side Community Land Trust was created by neighbors to organize and empower the West Charlotte community to preserve and develop their neighborhoods to the benefit of low income residents as well as the neighborhoods as a whole in the face of rapid reinvestment and subsequent displacement of long-time residents.

A Home For All

A Home For All is a long-term, community-wide effort, developed from extensive research, data analysis, surveys and interviews with hundreds of stakeholders. In May 2022, United Way of Greater Charlotte was announced as the lead nonprofit for the initiative. United Way is working alongside the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, nonprofits, and community stakeholders, including those with lived expertise, to advance the initiative.

Housing & Neighborhood Services

In 2018, the Charlotte City Council approved the Housing Charlotte Framework. The Framework establishes a collaborative effort among the City of Charlotte and other community partners for the allocation of private and public resources to guide the City’s affordable housing investments, policies, processes, and related decisions.
