Also known as the Section 502 Direct Loan Program, this program assists low- and very-low-income applicants obtain decent, safe and sanitary housing in eligible rural areas by providing payment assistance to increase an applicant’s repayment ability. Payment assistance is a type of subsidy that reduces the mortgage payment for a short time. The amount of assistance is determined by the adjusted family income.
West Side Community Land Trust was created by neighbors to organize and empower the West Charlotte community to preserve and develop their neighborhoods to the benefit of low income residents as well as the neighborhoods as a whole in the face of rapid reinvestment and subsequent displacement of long-time residents.
A Home For All is a long-term, community-wide effort, developed from extensive research, data analysis, surveys and interviews with hundreds of stakeholders. In May 2022, United Way of Greater Charlotte was announced as the lead nonprofit for the initiative.
